What is Mock ER?
AMSA UW’s flagship event! Hosted bi-annually (in the Fall and Spring quarters), we prepare emergency room cases for you all to solve in teams of four. We hope to provide a fun and interactive learning experience outside of the classroom.
You will be working with an “EMR” system and provided with the chief complaints, vitals, and results from the physical examination. Then it is up to you what steps to take! You are given points to begin, and each test you order takes away from the pool of “money”. You are awarded points if you provide the correct diagnosis and treatment plan. The winning team will be awarded gift cards!
Do I have to be an AMSA member to participate?
No, you don’t! However, registration opens early and is free for all AMSA members.
General registration costs $8 and will be charged through Venmo (reach out to us if you need any accommodations!).
Does Mock ER count towards shadowing hours?
Mock ER does not count toward shadowing/clinical hours. However, we are able to send out certificates of completion if requested for other reasons. You maybe able to talk about Mock ER in other parts of your med school application though ;)

Can I be in a group with my friends?
You will always need reliable consults - so yes, of course! Make sure you and your friends all register early and get a spot, and specify in the form that you would like to be in the same group.
No pre-med friends? No problem! We can put you in a group - and now you have three pre-med friends :)
